Job Summary

Volt is seeking a highly skilled Archival Media Specialist to join our team in Novato, CA. As an Archival Media Specialist, you will be responsible for acquiring, cataloging, and preserving the company's production and legacy media. You will work closely with the video archive team to digitize and migrate the collection for franchise and production use. This role will also provide operational support to the Film Archives department.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collection management workflows, including inventory creation and reconciliation, archival rehousing, assigning locations, and cataloging
  • Moving image media handling, such as film inspection, repair, and scan preparation
  • Inventory, rehousing, and cataloging of archival film, video, documents, and still image materials
  • Supporting departmental initiatives related to preservation, digitization planning, and collection management
  • Collection research utilizing in-house datasets and outside sources

Requirements:

  • 2 years' experience with moving image archival collections
  • Proficiency with spreadsheets (Excel and Google Sheets)
  • Applied knowledge of still and moving image collection or digital asset management systems
  • Working knowledge of digital preservation procedures and workflows
  • Ability to prioritize and multitask over multiple projects

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A Media Preservation Certificate
  • Masters Degree in Moving Image Archiving and Preservation, MLIS or MARA preferred, or equivalent experience
