Key Responsibilities
  • Provide authoritative legal expertise and guidance on critical legal issues to senior agency officials.
  • Develop and implement legal strategies to support the agency's regulatory program.
  • Conduct legal review of technical evaluations of launch and reentry license determinations, waiver decisions, license modifications, guidance material, congressional reports, and correspondence to commercial launch and reentry operators.
  • Interpret Title 51 chapter 509 statutory authority and work on legislative matters related to Title 51 authority.
  • Provide support as needed on regulatory matters impacting international obligations and cooperation.
Requirements
  • JD Degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admitted to practice before the bar of any U.S. jurisdiction or within the District of Columbia.
  • Active member of that bar.
  • At least one year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade/pay band (FG/GS-13/FV-I) that is typically related to the line of work of the position to be filled.
Working Conditions

This position is covered by the FAA Core Compensation plan. Additional information about core compensation is available on the following website: https://www.faa.gov/about/office_org/headquarters_offices/aac/compensation.

The base salary range for this position is $122,675-$190,000. The actual salary will be adjusted to include the applicable locality pay.

This position may be subject to a background investigation. A one-year probationary period may be required. The person selected for this position may be required to file a financial disclosure statement within 30 days of entry on duty.
