Job Summary

Perimeter Healthcare is seeking a dedicated Education Assistant to join our team at our residential treatment facility in Waynesville, MO. As an Education Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the educational and therapeutic needs of our residents. Your primary responsibility will be to assist teachers and other professionals in designing and implementing educational programs and services. You will work closely with our team to create a responsive and healing environment for our patients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with teachers to coordinate instructional efforts and develop lesson plans.
  • Prepare and present educational materials to residents, using lectures, discussions, and supervised role-playing methods.
  • Provide individualized support to residents, helping them master assignments and reinforce learning concepts.
  • Supervise residents in classrooms, halls, and other areas, ensuring their safety and well-being.
  • Conduct demonstrations to teach independent living skills and assist residents with daily tasks.
  • Enforce administration policies and rules governing residents, promoting a positive and respectful environment.
  • Grade assignments and tests, and compute and record results, using answer sheets or electronic marking devices.
  • Observe resident performance and record relevant data to assess progress.
  • Organize and label materials, and display residents' work in a manner appropriate for their eye levels and perceptual skills.
  • Participate in conferences regarding resident progress or problems, working collaboratively with our team to address challenges.
  • Plan, prepare, and develop various teaching aids, such as bibliographies, charts, and graphs, to support resident learning.
  • Prepare lesson outlines and plans in assigned subject areas, submitting them to teachers for review.
  • Provide extra assistance to residents with special needs, such as non-English-speaking residents or those with physical and mental disabilities.
  • Take class attendance and maintain attendance records, submitting them to teachers weekly.
  • Complete weekly progress notes on residents, documenting observations, behaviors, and academic progress.
  • Attend staff meetings and serve on committees as required, contributing to the development of our programs and services.
  • Carry out therapeutic regimens, such as behavior modification and personal development programs, under the supervision of special education instructors, psychologists, or speech-language pathologists.
  • Maintain computers in classrooms and assist residents with hardware and software use, ensuring they have access to the resources they need.
  • Monitor classroom viewing of live or recorded courses transmitted by communication satellites on the smart board.
  • Operate and maintain audiovisual equipment, ensuring it is functioning properly and safely.
  • Provide disabled residents with assistive devices, supportive technology, and assistance accessing facilities, such as restrooms.
  • Requisition and stock teaching materials and supplies, ensuring our residents have the resources they need to succeed.
  • Type, file, and duplicate materials, maintaining accurate records and supporting our team's efforts.
  • Use computers, audiovisual aids, and other equipment and materials to supplement presentations, enhancing the learning experience for our residents.
