About the Opportunity

The School of Mathematical and Statistical Sciences at Clemson University invites applications for an Associate Director of Research, a tenured faculty position with an anticipated starting date of August 2025. This role is part of the SMSS strategy to support the university's strategic goal of doubling research by 2035. The successful candidate will be expected to set the SMSS research strategy, coordinate mentoring of faculty in scientific proposal development, liaise with funding agencies, and identify opportunities for SMSS faculty to participate in large-scale programs and collaborative grants.

Key Responsibilities

- Set the SMSS research strategy and coordinate mentoring of faculty in scientific proposal development
- Liaise with funding agencies and identify opportunities for SMSS faculty to participate in large-scale programs and collaborative grants
- Advise the school director on research matters and manage the business of SMSS research

Requirements

- Ph.D. in Mathematics, Operations Research, Statistics, or a closely related field
- Strong record of impactful research, including publications and funding support
- Experience in conducting interdisciplinary research and mentoring faculty
