Job Description

Overview

The Smidt Heart Institute is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to assist in a research project focused on the impact of atrial fibrillation duration on treatment effectiveness and choice of modalities. The researcher will work under the supervision of Dr. Ebinger, Director of Cardiac Critical Care and Director of Clinical Analytics, to conduct a comprehensive review of recent clinical studies and patient data to analyze outcomes of both pharmacological and electrical cardioversion in relation to AF duration.

Responsibilities

  • Collect and analyze data from medical records to identify patient cohorts based on AF duration
  • Perform statistical analyses to compare the effectiveness of different treatment modalities
  • Explore how the duration of AF affects the choice between pharmacological and electrical cardioversion
  • Present findings and provide evidence-based recommendations for clinical practice

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Must reside in the greater Los Angeles area or surrounding cities while conducting all activities related to the internship
  • Interns: Those participating for academic credit must receive academic credit for the duration of the internship
  • Visitors: Must be receiving funding from an eligible sponsoring institution

The researcher will work in a fast-paced academic/research environment and will be required to maintain confidentiality and adhere to all relevant regulations and guidelines.
