About the Position:

This position is responsible for providing moderate to complex system administration support for Unix/Linux servers within the organization. Key responsibilities include: executing work orders, managing problem tickets, applying operating system patches to mitigate risks, and ensuring compliance with service level agreements (SLAs). Participation in team meetings and the creation of documentation for team processes are essential components of this role. The job entails weekend coverage on a shift basis.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee and manage all Unix/Linux systems and infrastructure within the Systems Operations domain.
  • Enhance system efficiencies and reduce manual intervention on related tasks.
  • Analyze operational support systems and application software to ensure optimal system availability.
  • Collaborate with vendors and technical teams for effective problem resolution.
  • Guide the team in meeting technical objectives while adhering to established process controls.
  • Implement incident, problem, change, and release management across various applications and technologies.
  • Facilitate remediation efforts, conduct incident conference calls, and provide updates on ongoing issues.
  • Drive root cause analysis and preventive measures.
  • Manage multiple tasks effectively across diverse activities.
  • Work with vendors to troubleshoot issues related to their products.
  • Identify weaknesses and single points of failure in current processes or designs.
  • Create and maintain troubleshooting documentation and runbooks, ensuring knowledge transfer within the team.
  • Develop automation solutions for repetitive tasks.
  • Ensure adherence to quality, security, and compliance standards.
  • Perform daily maintenance tasks and proactively review the production environment.
  • Manage incident, problem, and request ticket queues to ensure timely completion.
Required Qualifications:
  • 4+ years of experience in Systems Engineering or Technology Architecture.
  • 4+ years of experience with Red Hat Linux or UNIX.
  • 4+ years of technical troubleshooting experience.
  • 4+ years of experience with patching methodologies and configurations.
Desired Qualifications:
  • 2+ years of experience with ServiceNow.
  • 2+ years of experience in process definition and documentation.
  • Ability to meet SLAs.
  • Knowledge of scripting and automation tools (e.g., Ansible).
  • Familiarity with data center equipment (servers, storage, network).
  • Understanding of virtual environments and SAN (Storage Area Network).
  • Experience with Business Continuity Planning (BCP) in large settings.
  • Proven ability to identify root causes of issues.
  • Experience in technology support within large enterprises (5,000+ servers).
  • Comprehensive understanding of IT environments, operating systems, and hardware platforms.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a diverse team.
  • Self-motivated with a commitment to continuous skill development.
Job Expectations:
  • On-site work at least 3 days a week.
  • Relocation assistance is not available.
  • Availability to work weekends and holidays as required.
  • Flexibility to work outside regular business hours.
  • Participation in on-call rotation as assigned.
  • This position is not eligible for Visa sponsorship.
