About the Role

Astec Industries is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Buyer to join our team. As a key member of our procurement department, you will be responsible for the direction, management, and coordination of purchasing and production control activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee and maintain inventory levels to ensure optimal stock levels and minimize waste.
  • Prepare and issue purchase orders, production orders, and other procurement-related documents.
  • Assist with the development of new processes and procedures to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Train and oversee subordinate staff to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties.
  • Assess the financial risk of purchases and make recommendations to management.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Business or related field.
  • 5+ years of purchasing experience required.
  • Knowledge of raw materials, including sheet steel, bar stock, and tubing in both ferrous and non-ferrous materials.
  • Strong purchasing and production process skills to maximize quality and overall cost control.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with company employees, co-workers, management, suppliers, and customers.
  • Public speaking and presentation skills to train personnel in a group format.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications.
