Job Description

At Piping Technology & Products, Inc., we are seeking a highly skilled Journeyman Electrician to join our team. As an Electrical Systems Specialist, you will be responsible for the installation, repair, and maintenance of electrical systems, ensuring they function safely and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install and monitor electrical equipment, making adjustments or replacements as needed.
  • Repair, install, replace, and test electrical circuits, equipment, and appliances using appropriate tools and testing instruments.
  • Lead, guide, and train other electricians in applicable procedures and techniques.
  • Repair and maintain motor control centers and programmable logic controls (1000 volt and below).
  • Perform periodic inspections for new electrical services (120v, 240v, and 480v three phase), including wiring, conduit, panels, breakers, contractors, relays, timers, and controls.
  • Act quickly in the event of a breakdown, estimating the duration of any necessary shutdowns.
  • Perform electrical maintenance and repair work, including installing/ replacing fixtures, switches, receptacles, and wiring.
  • Plan electrical secondary system additions or modifications.
  • Ensure proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies, promoting continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
  • Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED; at least 2 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified. Possession of a current Electrical Master License.
  • Knowledge of secondary electrical systems, including planning additions or modifications on secondary circuits.
  • Ability to use appropriate tools and diagnostic equipment to repair, install, replace, and test 1000 volt and below electrical circuits, equipment, and appliances.
  • Ability to use hand and power tools applicable to the trade.
  • Ability to diagnose and repair electrical controls, industrial motor control centers, and programmable logic controllers for secondary systems 1000 volt and below.
  • Ability to lead and train.
  • Ability to read commercial electrical blueprints and apply NEC through the full range of commercial and industrial maintenance and construction work.
  • Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.
  • Ability to install and maintain motors, welding equipment, lighting fixtures, generators, circuit breakers, and transformers as appropriate to the position.
  • Ability to isolate defects in wiring, switches, motors, and other electrical equipment.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort:

  • Work involves almost constant exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, materials, dirt, dust, and/or loud noises.
  • Considerable physical activity. Requires heavy physical work; heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling required of objects up to 50 pounds. Physical work is a primary part (more than 70%) of the job.
  • Work environment involves exposure to potentially dangerous materials and situations that require following extensive safety precautions and may include the use of protective equipment.
