Job Summary

The Los Angeles Conservation Corps is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Crew Supervisor to lead a team of young adults in conservation and service projects. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for supervising and mentoring corpsmembers, developing and implementing project plans, and ensuring the successful completion of projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and mentor a team of 5-12 corpsmembers, ages 18-24, in conservation and service projects
  • Develop and implement project plans, including trail maintenance, restoration, and park construction projects
  • Ensure safe work practices and a safe work environment for all corpsmembers
  • Coordinate with project sponsoring agencies and community-based organizations to ensure successful project outcomes
  • Train and guide the team in project development tasks, including project planning, budgeting, and scheduling
  • Implement work projects timely and efficiently from start to finish
  • Ensure appropriate equipment availability for the work crews to perform the work projects
  • Maintain professional ties with community-based organizations and sponsors
  • Provide team support for community events and promote community involvement in team projects
  • Plan and carry out assigned crew scheduling
  • Prepare daily and monthly reports of project work assignments
  • Counsel, motivate, and provide constructive discipline and positive reinforcement for corpsmembers
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalency from an accredited institution required; AA and/or Bachelor's degree preferred
  • At least six (6) months experience working and/or training young people of various ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds
  • Ability to perform the physical requirements of the job, as well as train others
  • Ability to work with diverse populations and motivate young people to meet program goals
  • Ability to structure tasks, establish priorities, and set goals
  • Demonstrates supervisory, project management, and logistics skills necessary to fulfill position responsibilities
  • Demonstrates sensitivity, understanding, and the ability to effectively interact with individuals from diverse cultural, socioeconomic, disability, and ethnic backgrounds
  • Demonstrates oral and written communication skills necessary to prepare concise, logical, grammatically correct documents and presentations
  • Competent level of computer skills (Microsoft Office Environment) and the ability to complete necessary reports
