Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced District Construction Engineer to join our team at the Commonwealth of Virginia. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for providing strategic leadership and direction in the planning and delivery of our construction program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a strategic approach to planning and delivery of the construction program
  • Provide oversight of local management, including budgetary oversight, administrative planning, and adherence to policies and procedures
  • Lead teams to achieve program and project safety, quality, budget, and schedule performance goals
  • Meet statewide performance measures and objectives
  • Serve as responsible charge engineer for highway construction functions
Requirements
  • Experience in managerial, administrative, and supervisory principles and practices
  • Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, or related field
  • Experience applying broad knowledge of federal, state, and local transportation rules, regulations, and policies
  • Valid Professional Engineer's license
  • Valid driver's license
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supervising engineering staff
  • Progressively responsible experience in management and administration of diversified transportation engineering and/or construction program
  • Experience performing large-scale operations and management functions in public service operations
  • Experience leading construction and engineering staff
  • Certified Project Management Professional (PMP) desired
