Position Summary:
We are seeking an OSP Field Engineer to support our Engineering Department. This role involves field engineering tasks that are essential for the successful completion of various projects, including facility build-outs and maintenance activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the design and development of outside plant installations, modifications, and upgrades.
- Support the creation of line specifications and oversee fiber, cable, and line extensions.
- Conduct site surveys and job costing activities to ensure accurate project estimates.
- Develop project plans and manage projects from initiation to completion, ensuring adherence to timelines and budgets.
- Collaborate with internal teams and contractors to meet project deadlines.
- Travel to job sites for status updates and to address any issues that may arise.
- Maintain accurate records in the project tracking system and ensure proper project closure.
Essential Skills and Qualifications:
- Proficiency in Google Maps/Earth, AutoCAD, ESRI, Adobe Acrobat, Nitro Pro, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Familiarity with telecommunications industry standards and practices.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Knowledge of construction processes related to fiber, coaxial, and general aerial/underground installations.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to interpret legal land descriptions.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, for clear presentation of information.
Education and Experience:
- 1-5 years of experience in telecom project management is preferred.
- High School diploma required; an Associate degree is preferred.
- Familiarity with CAD, ESRI, and Microsoft Office is essential.
