Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor

Summary
The Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for all aspects of mechanical maintenance as it relates to the repair of rotating equipment, control valves, pressure piping, general power plant systems and equipment with an emphasis on safety, environmental compliance, quality, work scope definition, productivity, costs and schedule adherence.
Position Description
- Promote accident prevention and safety awareness by conducting pre-job briefings, job safety audits, LockOut/TagOut compliance and accident investigations as needed
- Provide direct supervision to union represented employees to ensure safety, company policy, contract and schedule compliance is being maintained.
- Responsible for making sound, timely decisions with little or no supervision
- Provide technical expertise and leadership to the mechanical maintenance group.
- Contribute to annual budget development efforts for mechanical maintenance.
- Assist in the Development of both Preventive and Predictive Maintenance Plans
- Maintain the corrective maintenance backlog using our Maximo Work Management System.
- Support the operations group to enhance unit availability and reliability.
- Reviews, monitors, evaluates, and recommend appropriate improvements on equipment, techniques, and procedures.
- Promotes and enforces safety policies and procedures.
- Assist in the development of training programs for maintenance technicians.
- Provides technical input for major maintenance projects and reviews new construction proposals to ensure ease of maintenance.
- Coordinates and supervises union and non-union contractors.
- Works effectively with other departments.
- Responsible for bid specification and evaluation of goods and services.
- Promotes and Supports our Work Management Process
- Participates in Outage related work activities in support of our Outage Management Process.
- Performs related duties as assigned.
- Support extended work hours during periods of maintenance outages
- Be willing and capable of receiving after hours calls for technical support or if needed on site assistance
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Marine Engineering and 5+ years’ experience in a related field
- Ability to obtain a Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC) ID for access to a portion of facility protected under Maritime Security (MARSEC) Laws.
- Strong technical knowledge of rotating equipment, pressure piping, control valves, welding, machining, rigging and general fabrication methods.
- Ability to pass random drug screenings when required.
- Experience with computer applications; Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook
- Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (Maximo)
- Ability to read, interpret and apply information from drawings, catalogs, reports and manuals
- Knowledge of safety hazards and appropriate precautions applicable to work assignments
- Experienced with budget development, cost tracking and budget adherence.
