Key Responsibilities:
  • Investigate infection outbreaks to determine causes, implement interventions, and assess results.
  • Maintain thorough documentation of outbreak tracking.
  • Oversee and provide expertise in wound care and prevention programs for residents and staff.
  • Deliver job-specific infection control orientation to all personnel in collaboration with the Director of Nursing Services.
  • Facilitate mandated in-service education for all staff and work with department managers to provide targeted infection control training.
  • Educate residents, families, and staff on wound care protocols and prevention strategies.
  • Maintain professional qualifications through Infection Preventionist Certification and participation in relevant educational programs.
  • Manage the communicable disease reporting process to the appropriate health authorities as required.
Qualifications & Experience Requirements:
  • Prior experience as an Infection Prevention and Wound Care Specialist is preferred.
  • Certification in Infection Prevention and Control.
  • Current CT Registered Nurse (RN) license.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements and outbreak investigation protocols.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of clinical experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Knowledge of epidemiology, microbiology, infectious diseases, and aseptic techniques, including standard transmission-based precautions.
  • APIC Certification in infection prevention and control.
  • Ability to conduct comprehensive wound assessments and create individualized care plans for patients with skin complications.
  • Maintain and demonstrate competence in Basic Life Support (BLS).
