Job Summary

The County of Orange is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Law Enforcement Officer - Community Services to join our team. As a key member of our department, you will be responsible for providing exceptional service to the community, responding to emergency situations, and performing various administrative tasks.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide front desk services, including answering phone calls, responding to emails, and assisting the public with information and requests.
  • Perform equipment room duties, such as checking in and out equipment, generating reports, and maintaining inventory.
  • Supervise a work crew that performs cleaning and manual labor projects for the substation.
  • Respond to emergency situations, including traffic accidents, and provide assistance to the public.
  • Issue citations for parking violations and other infractions.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • One year of experience in a law enforcement or related field preferred.
  • Ability to develop rapport and obtain cooperation from crime victims, witnesses, and informants.
  • Ability to prepare clear and accurate reports.
  • Ability to speak and write clearly and concisely.
  • Ability to read, understand, and interpret moderately complex laws, rules, and directives.
  • Ability to safely operate a marked police vehicle in all weather and traffic conditions.
Working Conditions
  • Incumbents will be working in a fast-paced environment, responding to emergency situations, and interacting with the public.
  • Incumbents will be required to work a rotational schedule and shiftwork.
  • Incumbents will be exposed to inclement weather conditions while performing duties.
Selection Process
  • The County of Orange will screen all applications to identify the most qualified candidates for the position.
  • Qualified candidates will be referred to the next step and notified of all further procedures applicable to their status in the competition.
