Overview

Blue Ridge Community Health Services is in search of a dedicated Substance Abuse Counseling Specialist to join our Behavioral Health Team.

Key Responsibilities:

The Substance Abuse Counseling Specialist will be an integral part of a multidisciplinary treatment team, delivering both group and individual therapy. Responsibilities include:
  • Leading morning and evening therapy groups, including sessions on holidays
  • Providing gender-specific support and resources under the guidance of the team leader
  • Assisting with the intake process, including orientations and personalized planning
  • Facilitating skill-building sessions focused on relapse prevention, recovery strategies, trigger management, harm reduction, self-care, and parenting techniques
  • Contributing to the development and organization of group therapy curricula
  • Supporting drug screening processes and collaborating with other care providers
Qualifications:
  • Required: Licensed Clinical Social Worker or Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (fully or provisionally licensed or license eligible)
  • Required: Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist (fully or provisionally licensed or license eligible)
  • Preferred: Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience
  • Availability for extended hours on designated weekdays
  • Strong listening and communication abilities
  • Bilingual skills are advantageous
