Key Responsibilities
  • Food Preparation and Cooking: Prepare and cook food according to menus, special dietary or nutritional restrictions, and numbers of portions to be served.
  • Food Safety and Sanitation: Cook foods to ensure proper cooking temperatures for foods, and maintain a clean and safe kitchen environment.
  • Leadership and Supervision: Direct the activities of one or more workers who assist in preparing and serving meals, and provide guidance and training as needed.
  • Inventory Management: Monitor and control food and supply inventory, and assist in ordering and receiving supplies.
  • Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service to patients, staff, and visitors, and respond to their needs and concerns in a timely and professional manner.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: Two years' cooking experience in a healthcare environment required, with prior experience in hospital food service preferred.
  • Certifications: Valid Nevada Food Handler Certification and Serve Safe Certification preferred.
  • Skills and Abilities: Demonstrated leadership skills, knowledge of state and local code requirements for food service establishments, and ability to prepare food combinations that add interest, contrast, and variety to a menu.
