Street Operations Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled Street Operations Manager to join our team at the Metropolitan Council. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for directing and guiding staff, administering policies, establishing departmental priorities, creating policies, managing projects and staff, and having responsibility for overall operations of buses when on the street.
Key Responsibilities- Represent Metro Transit in negotiations with city/county/state officials, police, contractors, neighborhood organizations, residents, businesses owners, and other outside entities.
- Represent Metro Transit and enforce established policies during projects and coordinating the response and cooperation in politically charged issues.
- Perform regular field work using a vehicle, laptop, and radio, to assess the overall performance of the transit system.
- Manage the Street Operations Department by establishing and upholding Street Operations policies, procedures, and goals.
- Accountable for all on-street operational aspects of the transit system.
- Allocate equitable work assignment to Assistant Managers utilizing workload and area to ensure work completion is successful and timely.
- Monitor employee performance to ensure compliance with agency and department policies, procedures, and goals.
- Any of the following combinations of progressive experience in transit, transportation management, or public safety in the transportation industry or a similarly related field that includes three (3) years of verifiable lead/supervisory experience and completed education in business administration, transportation, or a closely related field:
- High school diploma/GED with ten (10) years of experience including three (3) years of verifiable lead/supervisory experience.
- Associate degree with eight (8) years of experience including three (3) years of verifiable lead/supervisory experience.
- Bachelor's degree or higher with six (6) years of experience including three (3) years of verifiable lead/supervisory experience.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
- Experience working in a unionized environment and knowledge of union labor contracts, specifically Transit Managers and Supervisors Association (TMSA) and Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU).
- Experience managing budget and administration development, policy and procedure development, project management and coordination, and operations planning and performance management.
- Experience with managing high-profile events that include working with city/county/state officials, police departments, and community organizers.
- Experience presenting to a high-level audience, small and large groups.
- Experience working with Suburban Transit Authorities (STA's).
- Excellent problem analysis and resolution skills.
- Willingness to continue to grow, learn, and excel in a leadership/management role with Metro Transit operations.
