Job Summary

Penn Medicine is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Pharmacy Technician to join our team. As a Pharmacy Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient preparation and distribution of medications to our patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and distribute medications to inpatient units, including neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations.
  • Prepare IV admixtures using aseptic technique and maintain clean and organized machines.
  • Refill Omnicell machines and ensure accurate inventory levels.
  • Train new employees and work collaboratively as a team player.
  • Process daily cart fill lists, review medication lists, and prepare drugs for individual patients.
  • Repackage bulk medications into unit dose form and prepare extemporaneous compounds as needed.
  • Exhibit a complete understanding of aseptic technique principles and work in an organized manner to minimize errors.
  • Prepare sterile admixtures, including NICU syringes, IVPBs, and LVPs, according to aseptic technique principles.
  • Communicate effectively with the next shift to ensure smooth operation of the pharmacy and IV room.
Requirements
  • CPHT or CPT certification preferred.
  • Certified technician in the state of PA preferred.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Equivalent experience: 0-1 years prior hospital experience.
