About You
As an Animal Care Technician, you will significantly impact the lives of pets by delivering comprehensive care throughout their health journey. Your essential responsibilities will include hands-on care, facilitating outpatient treatments, conducting laboratory tests, assisting in surgical procedures, and providing support services such as patient admissions and discharges.
Experience & Skills Requirements:
- Preferred veterinary technician licensure or 2-3 years of experience as a Veterinary Assistant, depending on state regulations.
- Experience in surgical procedures and anesthesia is essential.
- An Associate's or Bachelor's degree from an AVMA-accredited veterinary technology program is preferred, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- Assist veterinarians in delivering high-quality veterinary care, advocate for animal welfare, and educate pet owners.
- Support the medical team to enhance productivity and ensure a smooth patient flow.
- Participate in surgical procedures in accordance with state regulations for credentialed veterinary technicians.
- Communicate effectively with clients regarding their pets' health concerns and provide guidance on available treatment options.
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive medical records with the assistance of practice management systems.
- Gather relevant health history and information from clients and keep medical charts updated.
- Utilize safe restraint techniques, adhere to standard protocols, and maintain clean, organized treatment areas, examination rooms, and laboratories.
- Be prepared to mentor and support fellow team members.
