Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Lab Animal Care Technician to join our team at New Bolton Center. As a key member of our research team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional care to our animal subjects, ensuring their health and well-being, and supporting the success of our research initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer medications as prescribed by veterinarians and consult with clinical veterinary staff on treatment options.
  • Assist veterinarians with procedures, including premedication, anesthesia prep, post-op treatment, and recovery of dogs.
  • Identify and restrain dogs for physical and eye exams, and maintain meticulous animal health records in compliance with USDA and IACUC regulations.
  • Order dog food as per senior technician's instructions and ensure the animals receive proper care and nutrition.
  • Work independently and as part of a team to achieve research goals, and be able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; 2-3 years of experience as a Lab Animal Care Technician in a research setting preferred.
  • AALAS certification preferred.
  • Flexible schedule and ability to multitask required.
  • Ability to lift over 50 lbs. on a routine basis required.
  • Ability to work well with others and work independently, be punctual, and flexible required.
  • Valid driver's license required.
