Overview

Join our dedicated clinical team at Acadia Healthcare Inc as a full-time Clinical Nurse Specialist focused on substance use treatment.

Shift: Night Shift (7p-7a, 3-12 hour shifts with an every other weekend rotation)


Acadia Healthcare Inc is a premier provider of treatment for individuals aged 18 and older dealing with primary substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health issues.

Key Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE CLINICAL NURSE SPECIALIST

  • Assess and coordinate care by evaluating patients' physical and behavioral health requirements.
  • Formulate and execute nursing care strategies.
  • Maintain accurate medical documentation and educate patients and their families on various health conditions.
  • Deliver nursing care in accordance with established standards and the Nurse Practice Act regulations, as well as facility policies.
  • Ensure clarity of physicians' orders, particularly those taken verbally, and transcribe them accurately.
  • Continuously assess patients' conditions and document relevant information.
  • Alert physicians to significant changes in patient status, including detox challenges and medical emergencies.
  • Complete initial nursing treatment plans upon patient admission, tailored to individual needs.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of and adherence to universal precautions in patient care.
  • Administer medications accurately as per physician orders.
  • Maintain precise records of controlled substance administration.
  • Efficiently manage admission and discharge processes as directed.
  • Foster therapeutic relationships with patients by maintaining professional boundaries and providing focused attention.
  • Guide or coordinate unit activities as needed.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with patients, visitors, colleagues, and other stakeholders involved in patient care.
Qualifications

EDUCATION/LICENSURE/EXPERIENCE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS

  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program is required.
  • A current Registered Nurse (RN) license as mandated by state regulations or eligibility to practice nursing in accordance with state laws.
  • Minimum of one year of nursing experience; prior experience in psychiatric, mental health, or substance abuse nursing is advantageous.
  • Certification in CPR and de-escalation and restraint techniques is required (training provided upon hire).
  • First aid certification may be necessary based on state or facility guidelines.
