JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Resident Assistant is responsible for providing essential non-direct care to residents/patients. This role serves as a stepping stone towards a facility-sponsored CNA training program.

The CNA training program includes classroom instruction, clinical practices, and on-the-job supervised training, leading to the acquisition of knowledge, skills, and certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant.


RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Replenish unit supplies as directed
  • Make up unoccupied beds
  • Transport residents to and from dining areas, therapies, and activities
  • Accompany residents to appointments (non-hands-on tasks)
  • Assist with meal tray distribution
  • Maintain cleanliness in utility and nourishment rooms
  • Provide water to residents
  • Ensure residents' rooms, baths, and personal belongings are kept in an orderly condition
  • Report to the nurse at the beginning and end of each shift, and anytime leaving the unit
  • Notify the nurse of any changes in a resident's condition or behavior
  • Respect residents' dignity, confidentiality, and individuality
  • Attend mandatory in-services as required by regulations or facility policies
  • Perform additional unit tasks as requested by the nurse
  • Adhere to assigned meal and break times
  • Follow facility policies and procedures
  • Maintain compliance with Universal Precautions and infection control practices
  • Uphold Corporate Compliance Standards
  • Interact positively with residents, family members, and visitors
  • Demonstrate effective time management skills
  • Represent the facility in a professional manner
  • Provide excellent customer service skills

REQUIREMENTS:
  • Minimum age of 18; high school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Capable of performing tasks while maintaining high standards of quality, cleanliness, and kindness
  • Physical endurance for frequent activity; ability to lift a minimum of 20 pounds
