The Samuel Merritt University (SMU) is seeking a highly qualified Adjunct Faculty member to join our esteemed Nurse Anesthesia Program. As an Adjunct Faculty, you will play a vital role in teaching, mentoring, and guiding our students to become exceptional nurse anesthetists.
Key Responsibilities- Teach at the graduate level in ADNP courses, ensuring a comprehensive and engaging learning experience for our students.
- Conduct didactic courses, planning and coordinating guest faculty, composing and administering examinations, grading, and conducting competency evaluations.
- Mentor students completing the DNP Project, chairing 1 to 3 projects, and providing guidance and support throughout the process.
- Conduct clinical teaching and simulation labs, assisting in the administration of comprehensive exams, and participating in simulation activities.
- Participate in program, college, and university events, representing the program at local, state, and national meeting levels, and maintaining effective professional relationships within the program and the CRNA profession.
- Earned doctorate in nursing or a related field from a regionally accredited institution/program.
- Prelicensure master's or doctoral degree with a Nurse Anesthesia major from a regionally accredited institution and nationally accredited nurse anesthesia program.
- Three or more years of clinical experience in the Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) role.
- Current unrestricted license as an Advanced Practice Nurse.
- Current CRNA certification by the National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA).
- Current BLS, ACLs, and PALs certifications.
- Experience as a faculty member in a nursing education program at the College/University level.
- Experience with virtual/distance teaching platform and simulation in education.
- Evidence of scholarship leading to professional presentations, research, and/or publications.
- Service in professional organizations (e.g., membership and/or committee involvement).
- Demonstrated expertise in nurse anesthesia knowledge and clinical practice.
- Strong communication skills.
- Demonstrated computer skills using web-based applications and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Competence in the use of technology in teaching and distance learning.
- Interest in collaborating both within and outside the University in the development and delivery of instruction resulting in improved student learning.
- Must value continued scholarship and service to the school, university, and community.
