Job Summary:Deputy Sheriffs are responsible for enforcing traffic and criminal laws, conducting investigations, and gathering evidence. They also serve subpoenas, warrants, and civil papers, and participate in search and rescue operations. Deputy Sheriffs work in a variety of environments, including urban and rural communities, and must be able to work effectively in a team environment.
Responsibilities:- Patrol roads, highways, forestland, and business areas to enforce traffic and criminal laws
- Conduct investigations and gather evidence
- Serve subpoenas, warrants, and civil papers
- Participate in search and rescue operations
- Work effectively in a team environment
- Must meet the State Department of Public Safety Standards and Training requirements
- Must possess a valid Oregon driver's license
- Must be at least 21 years of age (Marion County Sheriff's Office will consider applicants who are age 20, if they meet the qualifications of the position and are age 21 within 90 days from the recruitment close date)
- Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent
- Must have completed training resulting in the award of Basic Police certification from DPSST
