About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact on our business and contribute to our company's growth. As a Principal Engineer, you will work with the platform engineering team on open source software, collaborating with other Qualcomm engineers working on open source projects. You will be responsible for upstream deliverables into IoT and Edge related projects, including the Linux kernel, Yocto/OE, security software, and boot firmware.

Key Responsibilities
  • Architect, support, and manage OSS/upstream initiatives within the Qualcomm Central Software Engineering (CSE) team.
  • Work on and manage developers working on OSS, including U-Boot, TFA, OP-TEE, the Linux kernel, and user space stacks.
  • Stay current on industry trends and best practices in relevant OSS projects.
  • Contribute to code reviews, regression tests, and the triage of issues to ensure the quality of code.
  • Collaborate with high-level representatives from other functions to plan functionality of end-to-end systems.
  • Represent the company at industry events and conferences.
  • Mentor and build expertise in the Foundries/Qualcomm OSS teams.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 8+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.
  • 4+ years of work experience with Programming Language such as C, C++, Java, Python, etc.
  • Strong understanding of embedded software, SAAS, and Linux.
  • Knowledge of key SoM vendors, ODMs, and distribution channels for SoC vendors.
  • Excellent technical, communication, and engineering management skills.
  • Experience in managing relationships with key partners and stakeholders.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with product and engineering teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
