About the Opportunity

Are you a seasoned communications professional seeking a challenging role with a renowned cultural institution? We are seeking a highly skilled Digital Communications Strategist to join our team at the San Diego Symphony Orchestra.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive digital communications strategies that drive brand awareness, engagement, and revenue growth. This includes creating compelling content, managing social media channels, and analyzing campaign effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Media Relations: Plan and execute long-term and day-to-day media strategies, cultivate relationships with local, regional, national, and international journalists and critics, and assist in launch campaigns for indoor and outdoor seasons, concerts, events, and projects.
  • Content and Brand Development: Create content strategies, develop materials that promote brand awareness and engagement, work with stakeholders to create an institutional content calendar, and develop copy and materials to promote concerts, events, and announcements.
  • Digital Media Strategies and Structure: Develop and execute strategy for using social media, increase size of San Diego Symphony's social media communities, establish and execute best practices for handling, processing, and distribution of audio and video content, design and oversee plan to increase engagement on San Diego Symphony's digital channels, and inform and execute digital sales strategies, budgets, and campaigns.

Communications Strategy:

  • Interact with the President Management Team and other stakeholders to develop the voice and communications style of the organization, playing an important role in how the Symphony is perceived externally, develop internal and external communications that drive the Symphony's global reputation, and assist in developing and managing corporate communications strategy and annual communication plans.
  • Develop and execute strategies to increase the Symphony's visibility and enhance its external reputation among key audiences, identify and evaluate speaking opportunities and engagements, and assist in the development and execution of communications collateral, including media releases, advisories, talking points, presentations, etc.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications; Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in the communications field (for-profit or non-profit).
  • Advanced level of experience/knowledge of Digital Marketing platforms.
  • Experience with Facebook/Instagram Ads, and Google Ads, Google Analytics, funnel optimization, email marketing and automation required.

Compensation:

We offer a competitive salary range of $95,000-$110,000 annually, along with a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, and vision insurance, life, AD&D, and long-and short-term disability insurance, FSA, paid sick days, vacation days, and holidays, and a 401(k) plan.
