Job Overview: The primary responsibility of this role is to manage the cash register and assist customers at the checkout area, ensuring a seamless and efficient transaction experience. This position also involves stocking merchandise and performing various customer service tasks to uphold high standards of service within the retail environment. The individual will address customer inquiries, manage phone orders, and maintain accurate cashier records, all while contributing positively to the store's financial performance.

Key Responsibilities: The main duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

General Duties:
  1. Maintain a tidy and professional appearance in accordance with store policies;
  2. Adhere to scheduled shifts as assigned by management;
  3. Ensure checkout areas are clean and organized daily;
  4. Demonstrate knowledge of various produce items and assist customers with large purchases;
  5. Efficiently record customer purchases using the cash register;
  6. Process various payment methods in compliance with company procedures;
  7. Handle returns and refunds as per company guidelines;
  8. Package merchandise according to established protocols;
  9. Restock items in designated areas as needed;
  10. Manage damaged or spoiled products according to store policy;
  11. Perform all cashier and service desk functions in line with company practices;
  12. Act as Customer Service Manager in their absence;
  13. Assist in training new staff when required;
  14. Complete additional tasks as directed;
  15. Greet customers warmly and provide prompt assistance.
Financial Responsibilities:
  1. Accurately ring up all sales in accordance with cash handling procedures;
  2. Ensure correct pricing and report any discrepancies to management;
  3. Document any pricing issues or items not found in the system;
  4. Alert management of any cash variances exceeding set limits.
Merchandising Duties:
  1. Keep assigned shelves fully stocked and organized;
  2. Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of all frontend displays;
  3. Follow restocking procedures to ensure product quality and rotation.
Maintenance Duties:
  1. Uphold general cleanliness and sanitation standards;
  2. Assist in keeping checkout and storage areas orderly;
  3. Utilize equipment properly and report any issues to a supervisor.
Security Duties:
  1. Follow store policies regarding cash management;
  2. Stay vigilant and report any suspicious behavior to management;
  3. Secure cash registers when unattended.
Team Responsibilities:
  1. Support training of new associates as directed;
  2. Foster effective communication within the department;
  3. Inform management of any issues affecting store performance.
Qualifications: To excel in this role, candidates should possess the following:

Education:
  1. A high school diploma is preferred.
Mathematical Skills:
  1. Ability to perform calculations for discounts and percentages;
  2. Competence in completing sales reports and cash reconciliation.
Language Skills:
  1. Strong verbal communication skills to assist customers and staff;
  2. Ability to read and comprehend instructions and company policies;
  3. Capability to write reports and fill out forms accurately.
Reasoning Skills:
  1. Aptitude for solving practical problems and interpreting instructions.
Physical Requirements: The role requires:
  1. Standing for extended periods and performing physical tasks;
  2. Occasional lifting of up to 35 pounds;
  3. Ability to work in various environmental conditions.
Work Environment: The work environment may include:
