Role Summary
Reporting directly to the Plant Controller, the Cost Accounting Manager will play a crucial role within the onsite finance team, acting as a financial partner for the plant. This role involves analyzing and interpreting financial outcomes, collaborating closely with the Operations Finance Team on processes and assessments tied to annual budgeting, quarterly forecasts, month-end closures, and various ad-hoc reports. The position will engage in the creation, validation, analysis, and communication of financial and operational data concerning cost enhancements, capital budgeting, and related processes.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide financial insights to the operations team to facilitate informed decision-making, including:
- Analysis of continuous improvement projects
- Development and assessment of capital expenditures
- Cost estimation for new products
- Preparation of additional ad-hoc reports
- Collaborate with the Plant Controller and finance team to ensure standard costs are precise and align with operational cost improvement goals.
Assist the finance team in formulating three-year strategic plans, annual budget submissions, and quarterly forecasts for the plant, which includes:
- Validating production metrics and analyzing operational leverage
- Ensuring productivity benchmarks are met
- Working alongside Operations and Strategic Sourcing to mitigate material cost increases
- Conducting reviews to confirm appropriate staffing and overhead structures
- Verifying accuracy in manufacturing variances and start-up costs
- Supporting the preparation of capital expenditure requests and analyzing capital spending.
Assist in evaluating inventory levels and days inventory on-hand (DIO) to meet operational targets.
Support the Plant Controller in maintaining compliance with GAAP, legal/statutory requirements, and BD's internal accounting standards.
In collaboration with the Center of Excellence (COE) and Plant Controller, ensure timely and accurate financial performance reporting.
Review annual physical inventory and/or cycle-count programs to ensure precision.
Prepare and communicate various operational metrics as necessary.
Engage in special projects as required.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance is required.
- A minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience in a manufacturing setting.
- Experience with SAP is preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is essential.
- Strong analytical capabilities.
- Familiarity with capital budgeting, including IRR/NPV principles and product costing methodologies is advantageous.
- Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively under pressure, managing multiple detail-oriented tasks effectively.
