About Nexion Health

Nexion Health operates 56 skilled nursing and rehabilitation facilities in Louisiana, Mississippi, and Texas. Each facility provides a home-like setting influenced by the unique regional culture of its area.

Compensation

The starting rate for this position is $16.00 - $17.00 per hour based on experience. Additionally, a shift differential of $2.00 per hour applies to shifts from 2 pm to 10 pm. Experienced Medication Administration Specialists can earn up to an additional $1.75 per hour with potential for further increases. We also offer a Tuition Reimbursement program and Family Scholarship Program.

Job Description

As a Medication Administration Specialist at Nexion Health, you will be responsible for administering oral and topical medications to residents as ordered by physicians under the supervision of licensed nurses. This role requires strict adherence to state and federal regulations and facility policies.

Requirements
  • State certification as a nursing assistant
  • State-approved medication administration certification
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Familiarity with duties of a certified nursing assistant
  • Effective observation, communication, and interpersonal skills
Responsibilities
  1. Answer call lights promptly to assess resident needs
  2. Provide support for activities of daily living
  3. Take and record vital signs as directed
  4. Routinely visit assigned residents according to established procedures
  5. Communicate changes in behavior or condition to supervisors
