Job Overview

Position Summary

We are seeking a skilled Structural Design Engineer with a focus on cryogenic piping systems. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the design and analysis of structural components within process facilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop steel structures, including cold boxes and pipe racks, for industrial applications.
  • Create comprehensive drawings, including plans, sections, and elevations, for vendor proposals and fabrication processes.
  • Conduct stress analysis to ensure the integrity of structural designs.
  • Establish shipping and lifting protocols for heavy equipment, ranging from 5 to 500 metric tons.
  • Provide expert technical advice and review vendor documentation and specifications.
  • Comply with AISC standards in all design activities.
  • Engage in training initiatives, workshops, and online learning opportunities.
  • Ensure that projects adhere to established timelines and budget constraints.
  • Work collaboratively with team members, showcasing strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Address technical challenges and deliver quality solutions.
  • Demonstrate initiative with effective planning and organizational skills.
  • Report directly to the Manager of the Mechanical Design Department.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Proficient in CADWorx 3D and either AutoCAD or BricsCAD software.
  • Experience in cryogenic piping and cold box design within the Industrial Gases sector is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with structural design software such as Robot and Tekla.
  • Experience with Hilti design tools and RAM Connection software.
  • Knowledge of pipe stress analysis and support systems.
  • Basic skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • Strong organizational and communication capabilities.
  • Able to collaborate effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license is a plus.
