Job Summary:

The Virginia Garcia Memorial Health Center is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Dental Assistant II to join our team. As a key member of our dental care team, you will provide exceptional patient care and support to our patients, dentists, and other healthcare professionals.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist Dentists in Patient Care: Assist dentists in preparing patients for procedures, transferring instruments, and delivering dental materials.
  • Provide Administrative Support: Maintain accurate and legible records, order dental supplies, and perform other administrative tasks as needed.
  • Ensure Infection Control: Maintain a clean and safe environment, adhering to OSHA guidelines and infection control protocols.
  • Support Clinic Operations: Assist with clinic repairs, restock rooms, and provide evaluation of emergency patients.
  • Communicate Effectively: Provide excellent communication and customer service to patients, dentists, and other healthcare professionals.
Requirements:
  • Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent, graduate of a dental assisting program, or one year of dental assistant experience.
  • Certifications: Valid certificate of Expanded Functions Dental Assistant or Expanded Functions Preventive Dental Assistant, and radiology proficiency issued by the Oregon State Board of Dental Examiners.
  • Skills and Abilities: Good oral and written communication skills, bilingual English and Spanish preferred, knowledge of medications used in conjunction with dental treatment, and ability to work effectively with dentists, co-workers, and patients.
Working Environment:

The Virginia Garcia Memorial Health Center is a well-lighted, ventilated environment with exposure to blood-borne pathogens and potentially hazardous chemicals. Staff members must meet immunization requirements as stated in VGMHC's immunization policy and state and federal guidelines.
