We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced PreSchool Associate Teacher to join our team at the Detroit Academy of Arts & Sciences. As a key member of our early childhood education team, you will provide support in the classroom to ensure a positive learning environment for our students.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- **Greet and Assist Children:** Greet and assist children with daily routines, including arrival and departure procedures, meal times, and rest periods.
- **Prepare Materials and Assist with Instruction:** Prepare materials and assist with instruction, including setting up learning centers, preparing art projects, and supporting the lead teacher with lesson planning.
- **Support Classroom Activities and Paperwork:** Support classroom activities, including supervising playtime, assisting with classroom upkeep, and maintaining accurate records of student progress.
- **Collaborate with Families and Staff:** Collaborate with families and staff to ensure student success, including communicating with parents, participating in conferences, and attending training activities.
- **Maintain a Safe and Healthy Environment:** Maintain a safe and healthy environment, including adhering to school and district policies, and reporting any incidents or concerns to the School Principal.
**Requirements:**
- High School Diploma or GED certification
- 60 credit hours from an accredited institution or passing scores on basic skills tests
- CDA credential or Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education
- Previous experience with preschool or school-age youth
- Ability to work well with students, families, and staff
- 24 hours of annual Professional Development, including CPR/First Aid, Food Safety, Diversity training, etc.
**Physical Requirements:**
Light Work; standing, stooping, bending, pushing, pulling
**Terms of Employment:**
Part-time, 35 hours/week
**Evaluation:**
Performance evaluated by the School Principal
