Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Procurement Manager to join our team at Smiths Detection. As a key member of our procurement function, you will be responsible for developing and executing procurement strategies to optimize cost savings, quality, customer service, and supplier relationships.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and mentor a team of buyers to manage supplier relationships, execute procurement strategies, and optimize the procure-to-pay process.
  • Ensure excellence in purchasing execution and operational processes to meet business objectives efficiently and effectively.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, monitoring and managing their performance to ensure adherence to agreed-upon service levels and quality standards.
  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and conduct regular performance evaluations of suppliers to identify areas for improvement and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Assess and mitigate procurement risks, implementing strategies to minimize supply chain disruptions and ensure continuity of operations.
  • Implement cost-saving initiatives and process improvements to drive efficiency and reduce procurement expenses while maintaining quality standards.
  • Monitor market trends and industry developments to identify opportunities for cost savings, innovation, and supplier diversification.
  • Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders to align procurement strategies with business objectives.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in procurement, preferably in a high-value, low-volume and large number of SKU's business environment.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience successfully managing supplier relationships and optimizing the procure-to-pay process.
  • Previous leadership experience with the ability to inspire and motivate others.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make data-driven decisions and drive continuous improvement.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and influence stakeholders and supplier partners at all levels.
  • Proven negotiations skills that have resulted in substantial TCO reduction without compromise to quality and delivery.
  • Ability to lead continuous improvement initiatives to develop and support the purchasing activities of the Supply Chain Management team and the wider business environment.
  • Ability to drive system implementations.
  • Proficiency in SAP and Microsoft Office Suite.
