Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and organized Maxillofacial Surgical Technician Coordinator to join our team at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Health. As a key member of our surgical team, you will be responsible for coordinating patient scheduling, assisting with office visits and procedures, and ensuring the smooth operation of our surgical suite.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate patient scheduling and ensure timely preparation of the surgical suite
  • Assist with office visits and procedures, including preparing patients for surgery and maintaining a safe and clean environment
  • Monitor and assess patients before, during, and after sedation procedures
  • Perform telephone triage and follow up with patients to ensure their needs are met
  • Share in the preparation of the surgical suite, including setting up equipment and supplies
  • Maintain anesthesia specialty carts and equipment, including pediatric, emergency airway, and cardiac equipment
  • Clean and maintain anesthesia equipment, including infusion equipment and IVs
  • Prepare special infusion equipment and open sterile supplies as needed
  • Perform room clean-up and maintain surgical suite sanitation standards
  • Monitor and maintain par levels of non-controlled medications for anesthesia and intraoperative use
  • Prepare surgical chairs for various specialty procedures and anticipate the needs of the surgeon to expedite procedures
  • Participate in patient positioning, transfer, and skin prep, as well as escorting patient families from the surgical area
  • Provide custodial care to patients in the preoperative holding area and check charts for proper consent forms
  • Supervise, train, and orient new tech employees, including scheduling their day-to-day work and evaluating their performance
  • Develop and maintain procedure manuals and preference cards for providers, as well as reviewing physician schedules to anticipate and correct problem areas
  • Order routine clinical supplies and recommend changes in par level supply orders
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned
Requirements
  • High school graduate required
  • One year of surgical experience in a maxillofacial surgeon's office desired
  • Superior organizational skills and self-motivation required
  • Previous lead or supervisory experience highly preferred
  • Required licensure/certifications: Certified Dental Assistant licensure, BLS certification, Laser certification, AAOMS Anesthesia Assistant Certification, and Radiology Certification
