Key Responsibilities- Assist surgeons with procedures, maintaining a sterile environment and adhering to aseptic techniques.
- Coordinate with other disciplines to ensure seamless patient care.
- Provide basic patient assistance, connecting patients to clinical equipment as needed.
- Prepare and verify surgical sites, maintaining accurate accounts of supplies.
- Dispose of linens, needles, and sharps in appropriate containers.
- Assess wounds and apply or change sterile dressings as instructed by registered nurses.
- Document universal precautions and initiate emergency procedures as needed.
- Participate in on-call rotations and act as a preceptor for students assigned to the surgical unit.
- Perform additional duties, including specimen collection, pleure-vac, and traction setup.
- Graduate from a Specialty Training Program.
- Minimum of 1 year of related work experience.
- Certified Surgical Technologist - National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA).
