Position Overview

The Central Sterile and Reprocessing (CSR) department plays a crucial role in ensuring that patient care units are consistently stocked with sterilized, non-chargeable items. CSR staff are tasked with monitoring the expiration dates of sterile supplies located in various clinical departments. In cases where sterile supplies are stored in decentralized areas, it is the responsibility of the patient care personnel to verify these dates. Additionally, patient care staff must ensure that reusable, soiled supplies and equipment are placed in designated dirty utility rooms.

CSR personnel conduct daily rounds to collect reusable equipment and supplies that require decontamination and sterilization. Furthermore, CSR is responsible for the procurement of disposable supplies for the operating room.

Key Responsibilities

1. Assemble reusable instrument sets and assist in the preparation of case carts.
2. Clean, decontaminate, and sterilize all reusable instruments used in patient care areas, physician offices, and community health centers.

Required Qualifications

Education:
High School diploma or GED is preferred.

Licenses/Certifications:
Must maintain certification annually (12 hours of Continuing Education Units - CEUs).

Experience:
A minimum of one year of experience in sterile processing or equivalent certification is required.
