We are seeking a highly skilled and organized Legal Department Assistant Coordinator to join our team at the City of Montrose, CO.

Job Description

As a Legal Department Assistant Coordinator, you will be responsible for providing administrative support to the Legal Department. Your duties will include:

  • Researching legal sources and investigating facts
  • Drafting legal documents for review and approval
  • Filing pleadings with the court clerk and maintaining law libraries
  • Assisting in the real estate closing process
  • Providing general administrative assistance to the City Attorney's Office

You will work closely with the prosecutor in Municipal Court to handle and disseminate discovery to defendants.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college
  • Knowledge of legal secretary principles and practices, as well as standard legal references and their contents
  • Competency in Windows operating systems, Microsoft Office, and Document Management systems
  • The ability to lift, carry, walk, and stand occasionally, as well as have hand-eye coordination for computer operation and vision for reading and preparing written reports and documents
