Job Summary

The U S National Whitewater Center is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Landscape and Grounds Foreman to join our Facilities Department. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for overseeing and working alongside a team of Landscape Crew Leads and Technicians to ensure the completion of scheduled landscape maintenance and assigned work orders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Schedule and Coordinate Projects: Plan, coordinate, and supervise projects and crews to ensure timely completion and high-quality results.
  • Team Leadership: Motivate and develop a team of 4-8 members, providing guidance and support to ensure they meet their responsibilities and goals.
  • Work Order Management: Manage and prioritize assigned work orders, ensuring that all tasks are completed efficiently and effectively.
  • Administrative Support: Work closely with the Facilities Administrator to complete daily and weekly tasks, including purchasing and estimating for materials and equipment.
  • Quality Control: Ensure that all work meets company standards for quality, safety, and operations.
  • Grounds Maintenance: Develop and maintain the appearance of hardscapes, including roads, curbs, gutters, parking lots, walkways, stairs, fences, retaining walls, and stormwater structures.
  • Softscape Maintenance: Maintain and improve softscapes, including turf, ornamental plants, gardens, landscape beds, natural areas, and water retention areas.
  • Collaboration: Assist other departments, facility crews, and contractors with maintenance and projects on-site.
  • Materials Management: Manage irrigation and pest control throughout the facilities, as well as materials handling and storage.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of in-house inspections and inventories.
Requirements
  • Experience: 3+ years of supervisory experience in commercial grounds, landscape maintenance, or an equivalent education.
  • Teamwork: Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency working with a variety of trade tools and operating fuel-powered machinery.
  • Communication: Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Flexibility: Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and during Whitewater events as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Specialized Experience: Additional experience in a specialized trade, such as turf management, commercial landscape installation, grading/excavation, irrigation, pest management, or stormwater management.
Physical Demands
  • Physical Ability: Must be able to safely self-transport over uneven terrain or in a confined space.
  • Standing and Lifting: Must be able to stand for sustained periods of time and lift and move at least 50+ pounds.
  • Reaching and Bending: Must be able to reach, bend, and stoop frequently.
  • Working at Heights: Must be able to work at heights.
  • Working in Varying Weather Conditions: Must be able to work outdoors for sustained periods of time under varying weather conditions.
