Head Start Head Cook

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head Start Head Cook to join our team at Santa Clara Pueblo Administrative. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and serving nutritious meals to pre-school children, maintaining adequate sanitary conditions, and supervising volunteers who may assist in the preparation of food meals for children.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, purchase, prepare, and serve nutritious foods that meet the dietary needs of children.
- Maintain a clean and safe kitchen environment, adhering to Child Care Food Regulations and IHS food and safety regulations.
- Prepare daily meal count reports and submit monthly and annual reports as required.
- Attend monthly in-service trainings and other scheduled nutritional training sessions for professional development.
- Provide nutritional education information to parents and children.
- May be required to attend field trips and/or accompany teachers on home visits.
- Prepare meals for children with special dietary needs as required by parents and/or physicians.
- Schedule menu planning with parents/staff and Nutritionist at the end of the school year.
- Maintain an organized system for all nutrition correspondence.
- Perform minimal maintenance clean-up tasks, such as trash removal and bathroom cleaning.
- May be required to cover Head Start preschool classroom duties, data entry tasks, eligibility, recruitment, selection, enrollment, and attendance (ERSEA), filing paperwork, or entering confidential information into a database.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED certificate and one (1) year experience in food preparation or one (1) year vocational training in culinary arts.
- Must have or obtain a Food Handler's Certificate one (1) month after hired.
- Must have or obtain First Aid/CPR Certification one (1) month after hired.
- Must have a valid New Mexico Driver's License and be insurable through the Tribe's insurance carrier.
- Must not have any DUI/DWI convictions within the last five (5) years from any Tribal, State or Federal Court.
- Must successfully pass a background check.
- Must successfully pass a drug/alcohol screening.
- Must complete a physical examination with PPD on file.
Working Conditions:
Some local travel is required. Perform other duties as required.
