Job Overview

The Admissions Department at The New Jewish Home is seeking a per diem Admissions Coordinator for the day shift. This role is essential in ensuring the smooth operation of the admissions process within the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

The Admissions Coordinator will undertake the following duties:

  1. Manage and execute the daily registration and admission processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  2. Supervise the Admission Clerk and delegate tasks effectively.
  3. Input data for census management, generate reports, and make necessary updates, distributing information to relevant departments.
  4. Verify patient insurance coverage, including Medicare, Medicaid, Managed Care, and third-party insurers, and communicate findings to appropriate teams.
  5. Maintain departmental manuals and assist in coordinating both internal and external admissions, ensuring all parties are informed.
  6. Enter patient information into the automated system, ensuring data integrity and making updates as required.
  7. Organize and conduct facility tours, providing essential information and materials to prospective residents and their families.
  8. Compile admission packets, ensuring all necessary paperwork is completed accurately by residents or family members.
  9. Maintain bed hold information as mandated by health regulations.
  10. Generate statistical reports on a daily, monthly, and as-needed basis.
  11. Keep current and discharged files organized and accessible.
  12. Handle incoming calls, directing them appropriately.
  13. Communicate relevant information promptly to all internal and external stakeholders.
  14. Maintain policy and procedure manuals, and participate in staff meetings and training sessions.
Qualifications:
  • Associate's Degree or equivalent education and experience.
  • Experience in admissions coordination or management.
Skills and Competencies:
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, databases, and internet applications.
  • Ability to make independent decisions.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Capability to work effectively in a high-pressure environment.
  • Leadership and staff direction skills.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to sit for extended periods.
  • Ability to walk for long durations, including climbing stairs.
