Behavioral Support Technician

The Behavioral Support Technician (BST) will collaborate with the Clinical Team and home-based programs by engaging in data collection, maintaining documentation, facilitating staff training, participating in Individualized Service Plan (I.S.P.) meetings, and serving as a communication bridge between the clinical department and the individuals' programs. The BST will spend part of their shift providing direct care, performing the same responsibilities as a direct care staff member when not engaged in clinical tasks. The BST will operate under the guidance of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst and will receive weekly oversight.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to:

  • develop, implement, and instruct data collection methodologies
  • assist in preparing individuals' annual documentation
  • regularly graph and summarize collected data
  • conduct staff training on Positive Behavior Support (PBS), behavior plans, behavioral guidelines, data collection techniques, and other behavioral strategies
  • support the supervising BCBA in performing Functional Behavior Assessments, which may involve both indirect and direct evaluations
  • aid the supervising BCBA in crafting Behavior Support Plans and Behavioral Guidelines
  • apply evidence-based behavioral strategies and analytical skills to resolve challenges as they arise
  • attend I.S.P. meetings as required
  • assist in managing behavioral crises that may occur
  • collaborate with families, guardians, and residential staff regarding the behavioral needs of participants
  • possess a valid Safety Care certification
  • perform other assigned duties as necessary
REQUIREMENTS
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Maintain annual credentials
  • Demonstrated interest in behavioral sciences and experience in direct care roles with our populations
  • Selected candidates will need to complete the necessary coursework to become certification-eligible within the first 30 days of employment. Upon completion, candidates must register and successfully pass the R.B.T. certification exam within the subsequent 30-day period. Thus, candidates must complete the certification process within their initial 60 days to remain eligible for the position.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
  • Successful completion of all state and agency mandated training programs
  • Willingness to authorize a Criminal History Background Check (CORI) and release information regarding allegations from relevant agencies.
