Job Title: Clinical Pharmacy Specialist

About the Role:

The Clinical Pharmacy Specialist will play a vital role in interpreting physician orders, monitoring medication interactions and/or allergies, preparing medications and parenteral solutions, and dispensing them in a proper manner consistent with responsibility as a licensed professional.

Responsibilities:

  • Dispensing and supervising the filling of prescriptions.
  • Ensuring accurate profiling, preparation, and dispensing of new medication orders for inpatients according to procedure and meets any criteria developed to assure efficiency and productivity.
  • Exercising practical judgment in decision making and knowing own limitations – seeking assistance as needed, exercising independent judgment especially in emergency situations.
  • Preparing and supervising the preparation of parenteral admixtures, parenteral nutrition solutions, anti-neoplastic medication, and other sterile products when requested.
  • Directing pharmacy technicians, interns, and volunteers who assist with medications, controlled substances, and parenteral solution preparations and ensuring the accuracy of their work in accordance with established departmental procedures, professional standards, and Federal or State Regulations.
  • Conferencing with individuals concerning questions or problems.
  • Establishing and maintaining a good rapport and cooperative working relationship with co-workers.
  • Serving as a resource for drug information. Giving in-service programs regarding medications.
  • Performing appropriate clinical activities as established by the department.
  • Participating in departmental meetings and on committees.
  • Completing and maintaining IV/Admixtures Lab and departmental competencies.

Requirements:

Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy (B.S.P.) degree or Ph.D. in Pharmacy (5-6 years depending on state). Registered in Pennsylvania or completion of Boards with pending licensure may be accepted. State mandated C.E. (30 hrs/2 yrs).

Salary: $63,000-$100,000 per year based on experience and qualifications.
