Job Summary

The Clinical Therapist is a key member of an interdisciplinary team who provides direct assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, treatment intervention, and psycho-education to members and/or family members. This role requires a high level of expertise in various treatment methodologies and the ability to effectively communicate clinical material to members and clinical staff.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Provides timely and appropriate assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and treatment intervention of members.
  • Provides treatment to adults, adolescents, and/or children.
  • Selects and implements appropriate treatment modalities for members presenting with various problems.
  • Demonstrates expertise in a variety of treatment methodologies.
  • Effectively communicates clinical material to members and clinical staff, ensuring high internal and external customer/patient satisfaction.
  • Provides accurate and timely documentation of clinical encounters in members' charts.
  • Conducts initial interviews with members, eliciting and interpreting the psychological and social meaning of complaints.
  • Determines the urgency of members' needs and provides guidance and therapy as necessary.
  • Maintains written records of therapy, prepares reports and letters, and communicates with social agencies, schools, relatives, and friends to obtain pertinent information.
  • Provides clinical consultation in an integrated healthcare environment regarding family interactions, sociocultural determinants, and community resources.
  • Provides telephone assessment, counseling, resource information, and referrals.
  • Stays knowledgeable about Kaiser Permanente and community resources.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in identifying and treating various developmental stages.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in various treatment modalities, including individual, group, family, and child therapy.
  • Complies with organizational, departmental, state, and federal guidelines and all regulatory agency policies and procedures.
  • Adheres to all mandated guidelines for patients' clinical care and licensure.
  • Maintains licensure and participates in quality management and continuous quality improvement activities.
Basic Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in a Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, or other field related to behavioral health.
  • Two years of post-graduate mental health therapy experience within the last five years.
  • Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (California) or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (California) or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (California).
Additional Requirements:
  • Knowledge of and ability to utilize current DSM nomenclature.
  • Consistently demonstrates knowledge, skills, abilities, and behaviors necessary to provide superior and culturally sensitive service to members, customers, and staff.
  • Familiarity with all aspects of psychopathology and recognition of the appropriate and timely clinical treatment intervention needed.
  • Familiarity with and expertise in a variety of treatment modalities.
  • BLS card required.
  • LCSW required.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bilingual preferred.
