Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the principal powertrain controls validation test engineer and subject matter expert, overseeing testing, providing insights, developing test plans, and monitoring all facets of assigned tests.
  • Lead the development of testing strategies, protocols, and processes for vehicle evaluations.
  • Review project requests, engage with stakeholders to clarify requirements, and draft initial project plans, budgets, and timelines.
  • Collaborate directly with both internal and external clients regarding test requests, planning, execution, and reporting.
  • Oversee the creation, coordination, management, and execution of necessary program budgets.
  • Develop, monitor, and report on program-related metrics.
  • Foster and maintain effective working relationships with truck divisions.
  • Determine instrumentation requirements, vehicle configurations, software versions, and data collection methodologies for assigned tests.
  • Participate in the setup of tests, data gathering, and analysis.
  • Prepare reports as needed, summarizing results, conclusions, and recommendations.
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of PACCAR products and service tools.
  • Present testing outcomes or investigative findings to divisions or management.
  • Willingness to travel up to 10% for off-site testing.
Qualifications
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in the truck or automotive sector is preferred.
  • Proficiency in vehicle software is highly desirable.
  • Experience with signal processing (video) is advantageous.
  • Ability to manage personal workload effectively, demonstrating flexibility and initiative in response to changing project demands.
  • Experience in test set and requirements management is preferred.
  • Strong capability to summarize technical issues and communicate clearly.
  • Self-motivated with excellent analytical and technical judgment.
  • Experience in control system hardware and software testing is a plus.
Education
  • A Bachelor's Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline is required.
  • A Master's Degree is preferred.
