Operations Director

Frederick Fox is seeking an experienced Operations Director to oversee all operational functions within our AS9100-compliant machining facility. As a senior leadership role, this position will manage all department heads within the Operations team and collaborate directly with executive leadership to shape, drive, and implement strategic business initiatives.
Key Responsibilities- Collaborate with Engineering Teams: Guide the planning and execution of new setups and part industrializations, ensuring seamless integration with our manufacturing processes.
- Identify and Implement Process Improvements: Analyze production inefficiencies and develop cross-functional solutions to enhance operational efficiency and productivity.
- Optimize Shift Structures: Maintain and adjust shift structures to ensure continuous operational efficiency and adequate staffing levels, aligning with our company's goals.
- Coordinate with Planning Team: Work closely with the Planning team for machine scheduling, resource allocation, and risk assessment, ensuring effective resource utilization.
- Lead and Manage Operations Team: Set clear goals, ensure adherence to company policies, and develop training programs for team members to enhance their skills and performance.
- Define Strategic Direction: Leverage cutting-edge tools to enhance product quality and process efficiency, driving business growth and competitiveness.
- Develop and Implement Operational Procedures: Assist in the creation, communication, and implementation of new or revised operational and manufacturing procedures, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
- Oversee Manufacturing Plans and Processes: Review and approve manufacturing plans and processes, ensuring alignment with company objectives and industry best practices.
- Prepare Business Cases: Develop and present business cases to the Executive Team regarding capital investments, tooling, personnel, or training related to operations, providing data-driven recommendations.
- Advise Sales Team: Provide technical capabilities and preliminary industrialization plans to the sales team, ensuring accurate information for potential new projects.
- Ensure Compliance: Maintain compliance with job costing procedures and associated initiatives, ensuring accurate financial reporting and decision-making.
- Communicate with Planning Team: Address capacity issues, prioritize projects, and resolve bottlenecks, ensuring seamless communication and collaboration.
- Collaborate with Sales, Supply Chain, and Operations: Escalate and resolve quality concerns, ensuring customer satisfaction and loyalty.
- Host Supplier Visits: Facilitate supplier visits to address manufacturing challenges and explore solutions, fostering strong relationships with our suppliers.
- Industry Knowledge: Stay updated on industry best practices through seminars, training sessions, or customer visits.
- Accountability: Regularly report and analyze performance metrics, ensuring accountability for all business KPIs.
- Leadership Experience: At least 5 years of experience managing engineering teams and scheduling workloads, with a proven track record of success.
- Technical Expertise: A minimum of 5 years of experience as a lead machinist or setup engineer, with expertise in interpreting blueprints and model-based definitions.
- CNC Programming: Significant experience with CNC programming, including conversational programming, and proficiency in CAM software, AutoCAD, and SolidWorks.
- Inspection Tools and Instrumentation: Familiarity with CMMs, comparators, and other inspection tools and instrumentation, with the ability to identify non-conformities and develop corrective actions.
