For over four decades, we have collaborated with NASA to support space exploration initiatives. While most of our efforts are concentrated at LaRC, we may also assist other industry partners and government entities at remote locations as directed by the Contracting Officer (CO). The Center Maintenance, Operations, and Engineering (CMOE) contract encompasses three primary areas of focus – operations, maintenance, and engineering (OME).

The Predictive Testing and Inspection (PT&I) Shop Supervisor, reporting to the Maintenance and Reliability Manager, is tasked with overseeing shop personnel and operations, upholding stringent safety standards, and acting as the representative for the PT&I program.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee assignment, supervision, and assessment of shop performance and task completion, identifying issues and directing corrective actions as necessary.
  • Ensure timely completion of work orders and documentation of identified repairs.
  • Manage material procurement and program development, identifying opportunities for the continued growth of the PT&I program.

The PT&I program is dedicated to improving equipment reliability through analytical methods, alongside immediate troubleshooting of equipment failures. Familiarity with various predictive testing methodologies is essential for effective management.

Qualifications:

U.S. Citizenship is required. Candidates must be eligible to obtain and maintain a security clearance. The ideal candidate will possess three (3) to five (5) years of relevant technical experience or two (2) to three (3) years of engineering experience, along with a solid understanding of Reliability Centered Maintenance practices. Proven ability to work safely and effectively in a supervisory role within an industrial or manufacturing setting is essential.

Essential Skills:

  • Experience with work order management; CMMS experience is preferred.
  • Proficiency in failure analysis and preservation of evidence techniques.
  • Knowledge of maintenance and reliability best practices, including work management processes.
  • Familiarity with rotating equipment and alignment techniques.
  • Understanding of lubrication, tribology, and oil analysis interpretation.
  • Experience with vibration analysis and report interpretation.
  • Basic knowledge of nondestructive testing methods, including thermography.

General Skills:

  • Experience in team building and management.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-motivated with keen attention to detail.
  • Excellent troubleshooting abilities.
  • Capacity to learn and work independently.
  • Able to collaborate with individuals across various functions, including operators, maintenance personnel, management, and other leaders.

Work Environment:

Office Environment (45%) and Test Environment – potential exposure to high noise levels, hazardous materials, and industrial settings (45%). Travel between various facilities may be required (10%).

Physical Requirements:

Must possess the mobility to access all areas of test facilities, including the ability to crawl, climb ladders, and enter confined spaces. Capability to work at elevated levels on platforms and scaffolding is necessary. Must be able to stand, walk, bend, twist, and sit for extended periods, as well as lift up to 35 lbs.

Standard office equipment (PC, telephone, fax, etc.) with proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, etc. (50%), along with safety and personal protective equipment (PPE) (20%).
