Job Title: VP Portfolio Management Supervisor - Hotel Franchise Finance

Location: New York, New York

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled VP Portfolio Management Supervisor to oversee an underwriting team responsible for analyzing, structuring, underwriting, and closing complex loans on hotels across the United States. The successful candidate will work closely with the Underwriting Team Lead and HFF Relationship Managers to ensure credit risks are responsibly monitored and identified.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Train, teach, and develop staff to improve their understanding of underwriting responsibilities and risk management.
  • Collaborate with underwriting and HFF platform head to review loan opportunities and advise on credit metrics and proposed loan structures.
  • Interact with sophisticated clients, including hotel owners, chief financial officers, general managers, and legal staff, to assess the best credit structure while meeting Bank requirements and customer needs.
  • Gather, analyze, and concisely summarize complex underwriting information to present an easily understood financing request to senior management and credit approvers.
  • Analyze appraiser and borrower projections of key financial data, incorporate variance analysis, and review appraisals for accuracy, reasonableness, and identification of valuation and underwriting risks.
  • Negotiate loan documents consistent with approved loan terms, including financial covenants, draw structure, personal guaranties, acceptable collateral controls, default remedies, re-margin requirements, and other commonly negotiated provisions.
  • Demonstrate strong organizational and teamwork skills, coordinate the smooth and efficient administration and closing of approved loans, and ensure loans conform to Bank lending policies and are managed according to the credit agreement and customer needs.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree from a 4-year college or university degree, preferably in Finance or Accounting.
  • Minimum 7 years Hotel or CRE-Income underwriting experience at a financial institution.
  • Exceptional credit knowledge and underwriting skills in Commercial Real Estate lending.
  • Advanced experience, knowledge, and training in financial statement and tax return analysis.
  • Strong portfolio management skills, allowing for timely identification of credit concerns.
  • Outstanding presentation, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work well with others in a collaborative team environment.
  • Excellent ability to juggle multiple credit requests at once.
  • Self-starter, entrepreneurial attitude, and an upbeat positive outlook.
  • Ability to travel upon short notice.
Compensation:

Salary range for new hires is generally $192,000.00 - $235,000.00 for New York, NY. Salary amount is determined by specific job location. In addition, the role may be eligible for annual bonus/incentives earned and restricted stock.
