Salary Range: $87,500 - $140,000 (Based on experience)

Position Summary:

We are in search of a seasoned Lead Litigation Paralegal to enhance our team, bringing extensive knowledge from AmLaw 100 firms or specialized boutique legal practices. This position entails spearheading large, intricate cases while providing guidance and informal mentorship to junior paralegals.

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience: At least 5 years as a litigation paralegal in an AmLaw 100 firm or a specialized litigation practice.
  • Litigation Expertise: Comprehensive understanding of all phases of litigation, including intake, discovery, and trial.
  • Trial Preparation: Proficient in preparing for and attending trials, arbitrations, and hearings.
  • Logistics Management: Skilled in coordinating trial/arbitration logistics, including workspace negotiations and vendor coordination.
  • Case Management: Expertise in developing and maintaining systems for both paper and electronic case files.
  • Cite-Checking: Proficient in cite-checking and adherence to Bluebook standards.
  • Organizational Skills: Exceptional organizational abilities with the capacity to manage multiple projects and shifting priorities.
  • Team Collaboration: Ability to function effectively as both a leader and a team member.
  • Communication: Outstanding written and verbal communication skills; clear, concise, and professional.
  • Technology Skills: Familiarity with e-discovery databases (e.g., Relativity, Nuix Discover) and litigation support software (e.g., LiveNote, CaseMap) is preferred.
  • Software Proficiency: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint), LexisNexis, Westlaw, and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Education: BS/BA from an accredited institution required; paralegal certification preferred.
  • Availability: Must be willing to work overtime and travel as necessary.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Case Management: Execute all aspects of litigation case management, including file organization, discovery, and trial activities.
  • Calendaring: Establish and oversee case calendaring systems to monitor filings and disseminate information.
  • Process Enhancement: Utilize existing systems or create new ones to improve document organization and retrieval.
  • Mentorship: Supervise and guide junior paralegals on significant litigation matters and investigations, providing both formal and informal training.
  • Liaison Role: Act as the primary contact between case team attorneys and support staff, ensuring expectations are met and identifying areas for improvement.
  • External Engagement: Interact with external entities (courts, government agencies, expert witnesses, corporations, vendors, etc.) to facilitate firm operations.
  • Discovery and Witness Preparation: Lead efforts in discovery and witness preparation support.
  • Document Drafting: Draft, review, and analyze routine legal documents as required; conduct legal research under attorney supervision.
  • Relationship Management: Cultivate relationships with co-counsel or virtual law firm organizations.
  • Skill Development: Continuously enhance and expand skills in anticipation of industry changes.

Additional Duties:

  • Adhere to firm policies, practices, and priorities.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by firm management.
