Job Overview

The Principal Mechanical Project Engineer will play a crucial role in ensuring the successful delivery of projects within the Gas Compression Project Engineering team at Fast Switch. This position requires a high level of expertise in mechanical project engineering and a proven track record of managing complex projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee and coordinate various aspects of engineering on projects to ensure they meet the owner's objectives in terms of safety, regulatory compliance, scope, quality, cost-effectiveness, and schedule adherence.
  • Ensure project work is coordinated between external engineers of record, material and equipment suppliers, and construction contractors to meet project requirements.
  • Perform moderately complex assignments requiring application of standard techniques, theory, procedures, and criteria in carrying out a sequence of related engineering tasks.
  • Work efficiently and effectively on project teams supporting several project managers.
  • Travel to the compressor stations on average 3 days per week and as much as 5 days per week.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from an ABET accredited program.
  • 5+ years of applied ABET engineering experience.
  • Experience in the design, construction, or operation of natural gas compressor station equipment.
  • Knowledge of CFR 49 Part 192 Transportation of Natural and Other Gas by Pipeline (Minimum Federal Safety Standards), and/or Michigan Gas Safety Standards Guide (MGSS).
  • Knowledge of ASME Codes & Standards e.g., ASME B31.8, ASME B31.3, ASME B31.1, ASME B16.5/16.47, ASME BPVC, etc.
  • Knowledge of API Specifications & Standards e.g., API 5L, API 6D, API 1104, etc.
  • Experience in procurement of engineered material, equipment and professional services.
  • Experience coordinating and developing contract documents (RFP documentation), specifically engineering drawings and technical specifications for both consulting and construction.

Salary Information
$120,000 - $150,000 per annum based on qualifications and location.
