Position Information:
The Medical Laboratory Specialist II performs routine and specialized laboratory tests and other procedures for use in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases. Utilizes requisite equipment, instruments, and computer systems. Evaluates and reports patient results using considerable independent judgment within the scope of established testing methods. Performs quality control procedures and contributes to the maintenance of the laboratory equipment and supplies. Assists in the development and implementation of new procedures, instrumentation, and quality improvement initiatives. May assume responsibility for one or more laboratory projects or functions, such as performance improvement, safety, quality control, regulatory compliance, administrative tasks, staff development, and computer systems. Trains new employees and/or students in the theoretical and operational aspects of procedures and serves as a resource for less experienced staff. Performs other duties as assigned.
Experience Requirements:
- 2 Years of Clinical Experience in a Clinical Laboratory setting with Moderate and High Complexity Testing
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology or Associate's Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or Bachelor's Degree in a related field with required licensure/certification and equivalent experience
Licensure/Certification Requirements:
- American Society for Clinical Pathology or National Credentialing Agency for Laboratory Personnel Certification or equivalent education requirement
Work Schedule:
- Rotating Shifts including Saturday, Sunday, and Monday, 7pm-7am
Weekend and Call Requirements:
- As Needed
- No Call Requirements
